Willis  launched global insurance placement system : Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. has launched its global insurance placement system.he system, WillPLACE, uses a proprietary matching algorithm to correlate insurer risk appetites with specific client risks and matches clients with appropriate insurers.

“Willis risk advisers then work with their clients to assign a variety of weightings to their priorities,” Willis said in a Tuesday statement announcing the global launch. “These weightings for ultimate carrier selection may include such factors as price competitiveness, claims service and underwriting focus, among others. The client's requests are then electronically matched with carrier data, resulting in a recommended match between client need and carrier appetite.”
70% of premiums

Willis launched WillPLACE as a pilot program in Italy a year ago. By the first quarter of next year, the placement program is slated to be rolled out in 14 areas, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

The London-based brokerage said once the rollout is complete, more than 70% of the premiums that Willis places will go through WillPLACE.

“In keeping with the Willis commitment to integrity and transparency, the existence of potential insurer remuneration under the WillPLACE system is fully disclosed to all Willis clients prior to the binding of any coverage,” Willis said in its announcement.

Both Marsh Inc. and Aon Corp. have launched placement systems matching insurer risk appetites with client needs in recent years.

The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011 will be open to the public on December 3; it comes after a year of hardships, with production impacted by the earthquake and tsunami as well as recent flooding in Thailand. A removable battery installed in the vehicle can be used for the bike and also as an additional power source for vehicle. Nissan, the global leading EV maker, will introduce its PIVO3 EV commuter vehicle. The three-seat compact is equipped with an auto valet parking system. The operator will not have to carefully maneuver into tight parking spaces because the car can automatically park itself into lots fitted with appropriate sensors. The PIVO3, which is powered by four in-wheel motors, can also recharge itself, with excess power available for home use or even for sale to the grid. Toyota plans to unveil its FT-EV III, a basic EV model that the company plans to debut in the U.S. and Japan in 2012. The car maker’s Fun-Vii will also be among the horde of electric concept cars to be showcased at the show.

Sonalika is credited with having the Toyota Qualis look-alike, the ICML Rhino in the passenger MUV segment. Force Motors have inspired many other niche manufacturers to try their hands at making SUVs for the passenger car segment in India. Pininfarina, the famous Italian design house is rumored to design this new SUV and Sonalika would be developing this car mostly in house with some inputs from suspension tuning specialists, Lotus.

A sum of about Rs 500 crores is set to be invested by the company in the passenger car segment now. After the launch of the SUV somewhere down by 2012, there would also be a passenger car segment which would be launched later on. This sedan would take on the likes of the Honda City, Vento and others and would be priced between Rs 8-10 lakhs. Initially, the company plans to roll out only a diesel engine. Land Rover says that a new Defender will launch in 2015, and while the automaker hasn’t released many details, the next-generation off roader will have to be quite a bit different to meet increasingly stringent global safety and emissions regulations. Land Rover isn’t commenting on North American availability, although the British brand hasn’t officially ruled out such a possibility.

The DC100 is what Land Rover calls a “modern interpretation” of the Defender. Penned under the watch of design chief Gerry McGovern, the DC100 clearly departs from the current Defender in a number of ways – like its much larger wheels and almost vintage Ford Bronco-like side profile.

For now, Land Rover is keeping quiet on just what platform the concept car rides on and the automaker hasn’t made any hints about what’s under its hood. We’d guess it features a shortened version of the LR4 and Range Rover Sport architecture and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel. A hybrid system is also a distinct possibility since Land Rover is likely needing to show off a greener image for the Defender.

As for off road capability, the DC100 concept looks like it will rely more on a sophisticated traction control system than the big rubber and articulating solid axles of the current model. That’s a trick that has worked well for those few LR4s and Range Rovers that venture off the pavement, so it should combine well with the DC100′s approach and departure angles to make a surprisingly adept performer.

Volvo and Siemens electric cars small C30 hatchback ; Volvo, the Swedish carmaker owned by China’s Geely, has formed a partnership with Siemens, the German engineering group, to develop electric cars and ancillary equipment.

The two companies said on Wednesday that an electric version of Volvo’s small C30 hatchback would be available for testing by the end of this year. Volvo will deliver up to 200 vehicles to Siemens for further testing by the end of 2012.

The venture marks the latest in a series of partnerships between carmakers and suppliers to develop various types of electric vehicles.

General Motors and South Korea’s LG Group announced a similar agreement last week. LG already supplies battery cells for GM’s two existing extended-range hybrids, the Chevrolet Volt and its European cousin, the Opel Ampera. The cars have a small internal-combustion engine to extend the range of their electric battery.

Siemens already has deals with BMW and Renault to develop electric-car charging equipment.

Volvo and Siemens said in a statement that they would co-operate in the development of electric drive technology, power electronics and charging technology, as well as the integration of those systems into the C30.

Siegfried Russwurm, a member of Siemens management board, said: “It is our long-term goal to establish Siemens as a global system provider with solutions both inside and outside of electric vehicles. We see ourselves as a comprehensive electric mobility pioneer.”

The companies did not say whether Siemens’ technology would also be made available to Geely. The Chinese government is heavily promoting electric vehicles to help alleviate the country’s environmental and energy dependence problems but electric vehicle sales in large numbers are not expected for several years.

Volvo and Siemens have scheduled a news conference later on Wednesday.

Geely’s purchase of Volvo last year was the biggest acquisition of an overseas brand by a Chinese carmaker. It is viewed as a model of a successful acquisition in the automobile sector by Beijing, which is encouraging other China carmakers to look overseas for targets.

He continued: "Our research showed that compliance and customer services are the business units from which the individual is most likely to be selected.

"Whatever the background of the individual, the key thing is to get to grips with the pace of regulatory change in the complaints landscape post-payment protection insurance, and to have a real grasp of the people, cultural, processes and systems challenges that prevent organisations from dealing with complaints effectively.

He concluded: "What's really worrying is that the companies we've spoken to thus far are top 50 UK financial services providers - it's hard to escape the impression that the figures will look much worse among the smaller players."

Maruti Suzuki too is in the process of launching a new version of its popular premium hatchback Swift with several added features. This would include variable valve timing (VVT) for added power in the petrol engine, fibre fuel tank for lighter weight, tilt steering and indicators on side mirrors in the new version that also offers extra legroom for its passengers.

The new changes in the specs are designed to give it added punches to take on the likes of Polo and i20 that boast more features than the outgoing Swift. The car is due to be launched on 17 August, but the company is largely holding the price line.

Toyota's entry-level Etios sedan has already been introduced along with the Liva priced at Rs3.99 lakh. Liva is priced much cheaper that its competition like Maruti Swift and Skoda Fabia.

According to some analysts, the market has seen some rapid changes following Toyota's killer pricing of its new Etios, and then Honda following suit with its hot selling cars. They say now Maruti is expected to bring its top-line cars very aggressively.

Meanwhile, dealers say Japanese automakers are now providing unprecedented support by speeding up delivery after recovering from the earthquake and Tsunami of March this year and offering price cuts to preserve or increase their market share.

Domestic car sales are estimated to have dipped 10 per cent year-on-year in July, in the first fall since January 2009, as increasing overall inflation, rising loan interest rates and fuel prices impacted consumer sentiment. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors-which together account for three fourths of all cars sold in the country saw their sales drop in double-digit percentage.

"The RAV4 EV will be the first highway-capable electric vehicle to be produced in Canada and the first electric vehicle to be produced by Toyota outside of Japan," noted Goodyear.

Federal funding for the project was made through Canada's Automotive Innovation Fund (AIF), which provides support for strategic, large-scale research and development projects in the automotive sector.

The RAV4 EV’s powertrain, inclusive of battery, electric motor and other components is to be supplied by Tesla, in which Toyota Motor has become an investor, and has issued a powertrain supply contract worth some US$100m. US pricing and distribution plans for the electric RAV4 EV have yet to be confirmed.

It gave me time to assess the interior. It fits four, though backseat occupants only moderately comfortably. Carbon- fiber accents are attractive, yet the Alcantara-covered steering wheel felt too slick in my hands.

In June of this year, the CDI, GEICO and Consumer Watchdog agreed to the 10.7% decrease, which amounts to a savings of $91 million annually for GEICO customers. Additionally, GEICO agreed to return to CDI in 18 months to subject its rates to another review.

This massive decrease is a substantial victory for California's consumers. Not only will GEICO be decreasing its rates by $91 million per year, but the agreed upon reduction is actually $125 million less than the increased rates GEICO originally requested and Consumer Watchdog challenged. This kind of turnaround is exactly why Proposition 103 gave consumers the right to challenge proposed insurance rates, said Todd M. Foreman, Consumer Watchdog staff attorney.

The consumer protections afforded to drivers, homeowners and other property and casualty insurance policyholders by Proposition 103 do not apply to Californians' health insurance policies, Consumer Watchdog noted.

Legislation pending in the California State Senate, AB 52 (Feuer), would create similar regulatory oversight of health insurance companies and could save Californians billions of dollars, the group said.

"Assembly Bill 52, which recently passed out of the Senate Health Committee, will provide the same type of check on skyrocketing health insurance rates that Proposition 103 places on auto insurance," said Douglas Heller, executive director of Consumer Watchdog. "Patients would love to get the news that their health insurer has agreed to lower rates by 10%, instead of the massive hike after hike that Californians now endure. It is crucial that lawmakers considering AB 52 maintain the protections that have proved so effective for motorists since voters passed Prop 103 in 1988. Health insurance companies are pushing aggressively in Sacramento to take the teeth out of reform, but Californians desperately need lawmakers to resist the insurance lobby."

From its passage in 1988 through 2006, Proposition 103 saved California drivers more than $62 billion on their auto insurance, according to a 2008 study by the Consumer Federation of America.

MetLife Auto Stands By GM Auto Insurance Deal ; MetLife Auto & Home says it sees its direct marketing arrangement with General Motors to provide insurance for new car buyers as a way to increase its brand recognition, which it says should also help its independent agency distribution force.

Some independent agents have questioned the carrier’s marketing deal, now only offered in Oregon and Washington.

Bob Rusbuldt, Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) president and chief executive officer, said his group believes the marketing campaign raises a host of legal issues. “We have raised licensing and regulatory concerns, along with important consumer issues,” Rusbuldt said. “MetLife Auto & Home has been open to our concerns and is seriously reviewing them.”

But the insurer told Insurance Journal it it is sticking with the GM deal for now.

“Almost since its founding, MetLife Auto & Home has been known as a company utilizing multi-channel sales, so that we can sell policies to prospective customers in the way they want to buy them, and we remain committed to all our sales partners, both agents and employee-benefit sales,” said company spokesman David Hammarström.

“Increased brand recognition for MetLife Auto & Home is a positive for our company and our salesforce, as further customer awareness of the company and its value proposition will continue to drive sales through all distribution channels.”

Hammarström said MetLife Auto & Home was approached about being the exclusive insurance provider for this program.

“Ultimately, we decided that this program could help us to grow our business and increase brand recognition, and was financially viable. We were intrigued by this program’s possibility of reaching additional consumers who otherwise may not have known about MetLife Auto & Home. In addition, this program allows the company to try something that is truly new and unique within the property and casualty industry, which, if successful, may lead to additional growth opportunities in the long run.”

The company said the success of the program will be measured by the number cars sold.

Asked whether the insurer would be interested in forging similar deals with other car makers, Hammarström did not rule it out.

“We do not know whether other manufacturers are interested in this type of program, but we would welcome conversations about similar relationships if that is desired,” he said.

The MetLife Auto policy is offered with the purchase of new GM models from the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac lineups. The policies cover liability and physical damage coverage, above the states’ required minimum standard, according to GM.

Growing demand for luxury vehicles also spurred sales at Porsche SE’s automotive division, which today reported a 29 percent gain in first-half deliveries to 10,667 cars. Volkswagen AG (VOW), seeking to merge with Porsche, said today six-month sales of namesake-brand vehicles rose 12 percent to 2.53 million units.

automotive market forecast 2011 ; Automobile industry body SIAM today lowered its vehicle sales growth forecast for FY'12 to 11-13% from 12-15% announced three months earlier, mainly due to higher interest rates and rising fuel prices.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) also predicted a lower growth of 10-12% during 2011-12, as against 16-18% announced earlier.

It, however, said India became the top growing passenger car market in the world during the January-June period this year, overtaking the US, which grew at 14.40%.

"Increase in interest rates has been higher than what we had thought three months earlier... Fuel price rise is more than what we had anticipated," SIAM President Pawan Goenka told reporters here.

He, however, said commodity prices, which are another big concern for the auto industry, have started softening in recent months and hence, it is unlikely that any company will raise the prices of their products.

"We are sitting at a threshold where if interest rates go up further, it will have a devastating impact on the industry. The three biggest concerns at present for the industry are lower general sentiment due to lower GDP forecast and various scams, higher finance rates and increasing fuel prices," Goenka said.

In the first quarter, two leading car-makers, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors , did not experience good growth, he said, adding, "The rest of the quarters of this fiscal depend on how Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors perform."

Labour unrest, which had completely stopped production at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant for 13 days, is another major concern for the auto industry of the country, he added.

Stressing that the industry will grow at a double-digit rate, Goenka said: "Our revised forecast is now 11-13% for the entire auto sector. Both the passenger car and passenger vehicles segments have been projected to grow at a lower rate 10-12% in FY'12."

With expectations of a good monsoon season and arrival of the festive season, sales in the passenger vehicle segment are likely to pick up again at the end of this quarter, he added.

There were 13 new launches in the both the passenger vehicles and two-wheeler segments last quarter. Besides, the passenger vehicle and two-wheeler industries both saw three vehicles being refreshed to suit consumer tastes, Goenka said.

Dwelling on the forecast, SIAM said the growth projection for the two-wheeler segment has been unchanged, while that of the three-wheeler segment has been lowered to 8-10% from 9-11%.

Utility vehicle sales will surge by 10-12% compared to 12-14% announced earlier, he said.

Goenka said the commercial vehicle segment is likely to witness slower growth of 12-14% than the earlier projection of 14-16%.

While sales in the light commercial vehicles segment are now estimated to rise by 17-19%, instead of the earlier forecast of 18-21%, medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales are expected to be up by only 8-10%, as against 10-12%, he added.

Talking about India's performance compared to other global markets, Goenka said: "In passenger vehicles, India was the fastest growing market at 18.20%in the first six months of 2011. However, it was at the fifth position with
12.70% in the commercial vehicles category."

In the passenger vehicles category, the US was the second fastest growing market in the world, with a 14.40% jump in sales.

Germany, China and Brazil followed the list with a 14.30%, 11% and 8.30%increase in sales, respectively.

In the commercial vehicles segment, Germany was the fastest growing country, with sales rising by 28.20% year-on-year, followed by the UK, Brazil and the US, which experienced sales growth of 26.30%, 18.70% and 13.70%, respectively, Goenka said.

Toyota to Test Condominium Car-Sharing in Japan : Toyota Motor Corp. will offer a car-sharing program to residents of three condominiums – two in Tokyo, and one in Nagoya, Japan – in Spring 2012, using its Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), as well as the iQ-based electric vehicle (EV) now under development.

With a total test fleet of six cars, Toyota will allocate two vehicles to each of the three condos. Residents will be able to book a reservation for a Toyota next-generation vehicle via mobile phone or personal computer. The Prius Plug-in Hybrids and “iQ”-based electric vehicle units will be serviced and managed by nearby Toyota vehicle rental and lease companies. Fees have yet to be decided.

Toyota, in collaboration with the condominium developers and IHI Transport Machinery Co. Ltd., a Tokyo-based parking facility purveyor, will design parking facilities and charging equipment. The three condominium developers are Nomura Real Estate Development Co. Ltd, Daikyo Incorporated, and Toyota Housing Corporation.

A report by Green Car Congress finds that, during the past five years, car- sharing has become more popular in Japan among people in urban areas who do not own cars, and it is also gaining public attention as a countermeasure against global warming and oil dependency. Among the companies that have offered car-sharing are Mazda Car Rental Corp. and Orix Auto Corp.

“In response to these trends, Toyota, aiming to connect people with a new way of using future vehicles, decided to carry out this car-sharing program using next-generation plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles,” said a Toyota statement. The Prius Plug-in Hybrid can be charged from any household electricity source and has an electric-only driving range of 14.5 miles on a full charge. New BMW 1 Series design, New BMW TwinPower turbo engines, New BMW 1 Series revealedHatchback BMW gets onboard internet access ; BMW has revealed the next generation of its 1 Series premium compact hatchback. The new BMW 1 Series offers more space, new engines and an eight-speed gearbox option. Plus, there's an EfficientDynamics version that promises to emit just 99g/km of CO2.

BMW describes the looks of the new 1 Series as ‘bold’ and ‘swept-back’, with ‘elegant proportions’.
 You can be the judge of that – but suffice to say it won’t be too difficult to spot the difference between old and new versions of the car, even though it manages to keep a strong family resemblance.

The five-door hatchback variant takes the lead at launch, as it did with the original car. It's 85mm longer (with a 30mm increase in wheelbase) and 17mm wider, but no taller; rear legroom is increased by 21mm and boot space is expanded from 330 litres to 360 litres. Three-door, coupé and convertible versions will follow in due course.

The new 1 Series retains its front-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout – unique in the compact hatchback sector – which should ensure a fine handling balance and plenty of driver appeal.

BMW says the new 1 Series will be more fuel-efficient than ever before Powering the 1 Series is a new range of 1.6-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines.

All of them feature BMW ‘TwinPower’ turbo technology – compact twin scroll turbochargers that boost performance and economy by effectively acting like two turbochargers in one.

Petrol choices are new generation engines, badged 116i and 118i and offering 134bhp and 167bhp respectively. Those are increases of 9 and 19bhp over the previous equivalents, and they come alongside fuel economy improvements of up to 10%.

The diesels are significantly revised versions of the previous 2.0-litre unit, with variable vane turbocharging and common-rail injection. A 114bhp 116d, 141bhp 118d and 181bhp 120d are all offered, each more economical than before.

Eco optimisation

Further extending the eco credentials of the new 1 Series, it becomes the first compact car to be offered with an eight-speed gearbox.

This is the eight-speed automatic that’s already in use in a number of larger premium cars across several brands, and is quite a notable addition to the optional extras list.

Beyond this, all versions of the new BMW will come with start-stop technology as standard – including the automatics. There is also a new ‘Eco Pro’ driving mode for maximum environmental savings, which is part of a standard-fit ‘driver experience switch’ that also offers Comfort and Sport settings.

Further down the line, BMW is also planning a 116d EfficientDynamics edition – with the same 114bhp power output, but CO2 emissions of 99g/km and 74.3mpg combined over the standard EU testing cycle. This matches the latest Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion, despite the reduced efficiency of rear-wheel drive.

The 116d EfficientDynamics will be the most efficient BMW ever – at least until the i-badged BMW electric models start to arrive on dealer forecourts.

New Volkswagen prices 2012 Beetle same as old one : Hoping to continue sales gains it began with the redesigned Jetta this year, Volkswagen says the bigger, more powerful 2012 Beetle will start at the same $19,765 as the outgoing model.

When the 2012 goes on sale this fall, VW expects improved mileage ratings, too, forecasting a best of 22 miles per gallon in town and 31 highway for the gasoline model vs. a best of 20/29 for the old one.

But that's still short of some recently introduced small cars priced less: the 2011 Hyundai Elantra is rated 29/40 mpg, the 2012 Honda Civic is 28/39 mpg and the 2012 Ford Focus is 28/38 mpg, all with automatic transmissions.

"The compact car segment is much more competitive than when the New Beetle launched in the late 1990s," and the 2012 Beetle — "New" has been dropped — will have to lure buyers by emphasizing other attributes, notes Edmunds.com senior analyst Jessica Caldwell.

Styling, of course, is a key one.

"People buy it for fashion," says industry analyst Jesse Toprak at TrueCar.com, a consumer car-pricing and research site. The mileage, he says, "is good enough for the Beetle."

A bigger challenge, Toprak says, is selling the Beetle to men:

TrueCar.com data show women were registered owners of 60.6% of New Beetles sold in 2010 and 56.1% in 2009. "It is the most female-oriented car on the market," he says. Nissan Rogue was second both years, at 56.3% and 53.5% female owners.

VW says it expects the 2012's styling to draw more men. But Toprak says a version exhibited at the New York auto show in April "still looked 'girly' to me."

Industry experience has been that women will buy cars that appeal to men, but men won't buy cars identified mainly with women. That cuts the pool of potential buyers. VW's ambitious plan to triple sales in the U.S. envisions bigger, not smaller, pools of buyers for each new model.

Beetle, once a unique retro-car, now must compete with the similarly conceived, but costlier BMW's Mini Cooper ($20,100 to start) and Chrysler Group's new and cheaper Fiat 500 ($16,000 base). All evoke icons of their brands' past.

Unlike the outgoing Beetle, the new one has multiple power choices:

The 2012 Beetle base model has a 2.5-liter, five-cylinder rated 170 horsepower. The sport version, $24,165 TSI, has a 2-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder rated 200 hp. A 140-hp diesel, not yet priced, is planned for 2013 and will be rated 40 mpg highway.

A 2013 convertible also is due.

The old model, built in Mexico, was discontinued after 2010. The 2012 will continue to be built in Mexico.

Japanese Disasters, New Vehicle Sales Impacted : Motor Trade Association (MTA) said the new vehicle market for May showed the first effects of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, with several leading brands reporting sharply lower sales, despite the market remaining relatively solid.

Sales in May generally lift after April, which is usually one of the quietest months of the year, sales-wise. While that trend was repeated this year, the increase in sales was less than usual, due to the restricted supply which appeared to affect market leader Toyota and to a lesser extent Honda. Both companies suffered disruption to production facilities during March’s disasters, and the slowdown in sales had been anticipated by the industry.

Registration data just released by NZ Transport Agency shows the overall new vehicle market of 6,563 units was up 953 units (17 percent) compared to April 2011, and up 146 units (2 percent) compared to May 2010. For the year to date, overall sales are still ahead of 2010 by 2,912 units (9 percent).

New car sales of 4,535 units were up 277 units (7 percent) compared to April 2011, but down 81 units (2 percent) compared to May 2010. For the year to date, new car sales are still ahead of 2010 by 1,430 units (6 percent).

The new commercial vehicle market was strong during May. Sales of 2,028 units were up 676 units (50 percent) compared to April 2011, and 227 units (13 percent) compared to May 2010. For the year to date, new commercial sales are still well ahead of 2010 by 1,476 units (21 percent).

Commenting, MTA spokesperson Ian Stronach, Marketing and Communications General Manager said “The overall results in May are not surprising. Some Japanese brands are more reliant on their local production than others, and we are seeing the results of that in our market. The effects are likely to be felt for some time yet. Those brands with some or all of their production facilities outside of Japan are likely to benefit significantly.”

Holden led the new car market for the first time in many months with sales of 560 units – 12 percent share of the market. Hyundai continued to perform strongly with sales of 454 units – 10 percent share of the market. In third place was Suzuki with 433 units – 9.5 percent share, followed by Ford with sales of 422 units – 9 percent share, with Mazda rounding out the top five with sales of 420 units –also with a 9 percent share. Traditional market leader Toyota was back in sixth place with sales of 331 units – 7 percent share.

The race for individual passenger car leadership also had a somewhat unfamiliar look. Suzuki Swift took top spot with sales of 286 units ahead of Holden Commodore on 205 units, followed by Holden Captiva with 181 units, Hyundai i30 with 173 units and Ford Mondeo on 151 units. Long time leader, Toyota Corolla, was in ninth position with just 88 sales.

“Obviously, there will be quite a few brands vying to fill the gaps created by the supply constraints being felt by some Japanese based manufacturers. Add to this the strong stimulus in the form of the traditional ‘Fieldays Specials’ and the result is a market that’s as competitive as ever. Some leading models are available at heavily reduced prices, which will no doubt spur on buyer activity” said Stronach.

Toyota held strong in the light commercial segment however, with HiLux sales of 450 units making it New Zealand’s top selling model overall. Some way back in second spot was Nissan Navara with sales of 221 units and Ford Ranger in third with sales of 208 units.

The used import car market also showed buoyancy during May. Sales of 7,013 units were up 857 units (14 percent) compared to April 2011, but down 368 units (5 percent) compared to May 2010. For the year to date, used import car sales are still behind 2010 by 2,076 units (6 percent).

The motorcycle sector continued to cool along with temperatures, and at 528 units, was down 6 percent compared to April but encouragingly, was up 99 units or 23 percent compared to May 2010.
